Lush Cosmetics

The Event: After many years apart, Lush Cosmetics brought its support team together for a four-day employee conference in Vancouver, BC. Lush hosted the corporate gathering at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and Lush's Vancouver head office. The two locations meant that the Lush Travel & Events Team could only be in one place at a time and could benefit from the support of a secondary events team. KindCo assisted the Lush Team with the logistics of the event setup and take down at the two locations, including the planning, design, and décor elements for several of the meetings thus allowing Lush's event team to focus on programming and to be onsite during the live conference. 

The Format:

The Lush team provided an event brief to KindCo for the conference format and event aesthetic. There were two components - the conference sessions and a staff party. KindCo worked alongside Lush’s Travel and Events Team, Lush’s Vancouver Head Office Administrative Team and the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel Events Team to create inviting environments for the conference attendees. We used plants to make the meeting spaces more welcoming and to align with the overall conference theme. We carried the plant theme into our wayfinding for the Factory Tour at Lush's head office using signage on artificial trees as our meeting space indicators. We also supported local nurseries and reduced waste by having the centrepieces for the party made of freshly potted flowers in Lush's iconic black pots. Post-event, the potted flowers were given to staff to be used in their gardens. 

During the conference sessions, we provided special effects for the Lush Spa space basking the room in a warm pink glow for the spa demonstrations. KindCo also helped showcase the incredible activism work the Lush team has done from 2011-2023 by designing and producing a "History of Campaigns" timeline capturing the causes Lush has supported over the past 10 plus years. 

 We worked closely with Hemlock printers to ensure the materials selected for all onsite signage were recyclable and made from sustainable materials. 

For the conference's main stage, we created two vignettes: an intimate soft seating couch area and a 6ft high-top table with seating for six people for the panel discussion.  Both vignettes featured 4ft lit up LUSH marquee letters in the background. 

 After the last conference session, we transformed the ballroom for the Lush staff party happening later that evening. We defined the space into three zones, a lounge zone featuring velvet seating areas with custom pillows made from Lush knot-wraps, high-top seating with wooden cocktail tables featuring Lush pots with seasonal potted flowers, and a dance floor area beside the stage where a local cover band performed. 

The KindCo team used a digital platform to check in nearly 500 guests in a timely and orderly fashion. They also helped ensure guests got home safely by directing them to download the Uber corporate voucher.  

Sustainability was top of mind throughout the planning process and event elements were carefully selected to ensure a minimal eco-footprint. Most materials were multi-use (rental) and the remaining items were made of recyclable materials thus reducing the environmental impact of the meeting.
