Harvard Business ReviewSoft skills training for real workplaces
Soft skills are the interpersonal and emotional capabilities that determine how people work together. Our facilitated training covers three interconnected skill clusters — each one directly affecting how your team communicates, collaborates, and performs.
Communication & Dialogue
How people share information, give feedback, and navigate difficult conversations — the daily mechanics of working together well.
Trust & Safety
The relational foundation that allows people to speak up, take risks, and bring their full selves to work — without fear of judgment.
Connection & Culture
The everyday behaviours that shape belonging, recognition, and whether people feel like they matter — the long-term drivers of retention.
Soft skills are the interpersonal and emotional capabilities that shape how people work together — distinct from technical or "hard" skills. They include communication, empathy, active listening, trust-building, accountability, and conflict resolution. Unlike hard skills, soft skills are relational: they govern how people give feedback, navigate disagreement, support each other through change, and collaborate under pressure. Research consistently shows teams with strong interpersonal skills outperform those without — not because they're conflict-free, but because they know how to work through challenges together.
Facilitated soft skills workshops
Each workshop is a standalone facilitated experience — interactive, practical, and designed to create lasting change in how your team works together.
Building Trust in the Workplace
Trust is the interpersonal skill that underpins all others. When it's low, every other soft skill suffers — communication closes down, accountability becomes personal, and collaboration stalls. This workshop gives teams a shared framework for building, maintaining, and repairing trust, using the Trust At Work® methodology.
Creating a Culture Where People Matter
One of the most underrated soft skills in any workplace is the ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued. This workshop explores mattering as a practice — through belonging, recognition, and appreciation — and gives every participant a personal action plan to strengthen how people experience being part of the team.
Communicating with Impact
Most communication problems aren't about what people say — they're about how they say it, when they say it, and whether it lands. This workshop helps people structure ideas clearly, deliver messages that stick, and speak with more confidence and intention — in meetings, feedback conversations, and high-stakes moments.
Tailored Soft Skills Training
Not every team needs the same thing. If your organization has a specific challenge — a team in conflict, a leadership group that needs to reset, or a culture initiative you're building from the ground up — we'll design a program that meets your people exactly where they are.
Soft skills are the competitive edge in a hybrid world
Higher retention
Employees who feel psychologically safe and trusted are significantly less likely to leave — regardless of compensation.
Stronger performance
Teams with developed interpersonal skills resolve conflict faster, make decisions with more confidence, and innovate more freely.
Better culture
Soft skills training gives teams shared language and shared practices — the building blocks of a culture people actually want to be part of.
Hybrid-ready teams
Remote and hybrid teams can't rely on proximity to build connection. Deliberate soft skills development fills that gap.

Soft skills gaps show up differently in every organization. If any of these scenarios resonate, our facilitated training can help.

→ Communicating with ImpactTrust broke down on our team and we don't know how to rebuild it.
Whether it's a specific breakdown or slow drift, trust can be rebuilt intentionally. Our trust workshop provides a shared framework and concrete agreements to move forward.
→ Trust WorkshopOur best people are disengaged — and we can't figure out why.
High performers disengage quietly when they stop feeling like their contributions matter. The Mattering workshop addresses the root cause, not just the symptom.
→ Mattering WorkshopWe're a hybrid team and connection is hard to build at a distance.
Proximity used to do the relational heavy lifting. Without it, teams need intentional soft skills development. All our workshops are available virtually with full engagement.
→ Any Program · Virtual FormatWe're going through a lot of change and the team feels unsteady.

Book a conversationWhat's the difference between soft skills and hard skills?
Hard skills are technical, job-specific abilities — coding, financial modelling, project management. Soft skills are interpersonal and relational: how you communicate, give feedback, build trust, and manage conflict. Both matter, but research consistently shows that soft skills are now what separates good teams from great ones — and they're far harder to develop without intentional training.
What soft skills do you focus on in your workshops?
Our soft skills training covers three interconnected clusters: communication and dialogue (active listening, giving and receiving feedback, communicating with impact), trust and psychological safety (trust-building, accountability, conflict resolution), and connection and culture (empathy, recognition, belonging, and mattering). Every workshop is tailored to your team's specific needs and goals.
What is psychological safety and why does it matter?
Psychological safety is the shared belief that it's safe to speak up, share ideas, and make mistakes without fear of judgment or punishment. Google's Project Aristotle identified it as the number-one factor in high-performing teams. It's built through trust and consistent interpersonal behaviours — and it's central to everything we do at KindCo.
How is soft skills training different from team-building?
Team-building activities are fun and have their place — but they rarely change how people actually work together. KindCo's soft skills workshops are facilitated learning experiences with real frameworks, structured reflection, and practical tools. Participants leave with skills they can apply the very next day, not just a good memory from the afternoon.
Are your soft skills workshops available virtually?
Yes. We run in-person workshops across Vancouver and Canada, and fully facilitated virtual sessions on Zoom for remote and hybrid teams. Both formats are designed for real engagement — breakout rooms, interactive tools, and structured discussion — not passive listening.
How long is a typical soft skills workshop?
Formats range from a 1-hour keynote introduction to a half-day (4 hours), full-day (7+ hours), or multi-session series. We'll work with you to find the right format and duration for your team's goals, group size, and schedule.
Do your workshops qualify for CPD hours?
Many do. Let us know which governing body you report to and we can document learning outcomes accordingly. Our trust and communication workshops are particularly well-suited to professional development requirements across a range of industries, including accounting, HR, and leadership roles.
