The Event: The 5th edition of the Shared Mobility Rocks conference was being hosted in North America for the first time ever. Traditionally hosted in Europe, this conference was set to bring guests from all over the world to talk about shared mobility solutions. But Shared Mobility Rocks isn’t any conference. It’s a rock-themed, shared mobility hub for talking about innovation and the future of shared mobility. Movmi brought KindCo on to find an unconventional, industrial location to bring the event to life.

The Format:

The movmi team provided an event brief to KindCo for the conference format and event aesthetic. They wanted a venue that was industrial and that was accessible to guests via shared mobility. They also wanted to have two excursions that involved a bike and walking tour so finding the right venue that showcased our city, and was bike route accessible was key. KindCo recommended the historic building, the Pipe Shop and their sister venue the Wallace to create a festival style approach. We hosted workshops, presentations and performances in the two spaces and ended the day with a happy hour on the Wallace rooftop patio overlooking the city of Vancouver.

We got creative with the space and hosted two sessions simultaneously by using headphones for the sessions going on the secondary stage. We also collaborated with the City of North Vancouver to leverage the outdoor space to create an exhibitor zone, allowing attendees to test out various shared mobility solutions, including e-bikes and scooters.

We incorporated sponsor signage designed to look like album covers to keep with the rock theme. We also brought theme songs into the opening of each act and even had an electric cello playing rock songs as guests arrived at the venue.

Guests were able to commute to the venue by using the bike lanes as well as the Seabus.
